Annual fundraiser for SANDS – cycling the Horseshoe

This time last year, Catherine and I were preparing to walk up Snowdon, and asking friends and family to sponsor us in aid of SANDS. I posted a blog about it here.

Well, this year we are struggling for childcare and so whilst Catherine looks after the kids, I will be expending lots of energy once again, but in a solo capacity.
No, not Snowdon again this year. If you are a “facebook friend” of mine then you’re probably aware that I’ve become quite addicted to cycling this year. I keep meaning to write a blog post about it, but frankly, I’d rather be out on my bike.

So, I’m going to attempt a ride longer than anything I’ve done in a single day, and with more climbing. From Denbigh, I’m going to cycle to Llangollen, and then back again, up the fearsome Horseshoe Pass.
I honestly don’t know how it’ll go. Getting there will be easy(ish), but getting up the horsehoe pass on the return journey is a bit of a psychological barrier – it’s quite long and quite steep, and I’m sure it will be quite tiring. Yes, quite.
Total journey – about 46 miles, with about 2,500ft of climbing. Gulp.

But I’m going to have a go and give it everything I’ve got. All to raise money for SANDS.

To spur me on to a feat of physical endurance, the likes of which I would have found incomprehensible just a couple of years ago, please consider sponsoring me using the link below (Paypal) or if you know where I live, just pop round innit?

This time tomorrow I may be  having a warm bath with a feeling of smug victory and satisfaction, or I’ll be on some sort of coronary care unit.
Wish me luck!
