Cheshire Cat 2012: Flyover of 100 mile route

On March 25th 2012, a rather large number of cyclists will set off from Crewe on the Cheshire Cat. The longest variation of the route is 100 miles, and I’ll be among that particular band of nutters.

It’s important to pace yourself on an event like this and not push too hard too soon. It’s easy to get carried away with the occasion and attempt to keep up with everyone around you.
I find that familiarising myself with the course as much as possible beforehand will help to mentally break it down into sections, which then provides a clear sense of progress and achievement throughout the day – it’s always useful to reinforce the positives when you’re on a long ride and it’s starting to hurt.

Cheshire Cat 2012 Flyover

A great way to visualise the route and memorise  those big climbs so you know what to expect and when.
The approach to Mow Cop is at around 2:20

Please note: since this flyover was produced, the route has been modified slightly. See the official website to download the amended gpx file and see the route.
You can see a 2D map showing the original, and modified route here.

Visit the Official KiloToGo Cheshire Cat page, for more info and to download the GPX file for your Garmin or other navigation device.
Entries to the event close on  March 18th, 2012.
