My good friend John Evans has been working very hard at pulling together lots of various bits of video footage from various “Pigstock” music festivals which ran annually between about 1996 and 2006. And it’s about to hit a big screen near you (if you live in Denbigh)….
We didn’t film every show, but there are interesting snippets from the earlier shows and some great multi-camera footage of some of the later years.
For those ten years or so, the festival became a real highlight for any music lovers in the local area. Attracting crowds of a few thousand, it was easily the biggest local event of its kind.
John has lovingly edited a full length film, documenting the history and development of the festival from its humble folk club origins, to a more recognizably “full-on” festival in later years.
And here’s the best bit
Pigstock The Movie will be shown on March 16th 2012, in Theatre Twm o’r Nant, Denbigh. It is FREE to attend. Yes, that’s right. No, it’s not a typo. No, I’m not drunk. Yes, you can restore a little bit of your faith in humankind. It is FREE, but you do need to register your place.
How do I register my FREE ticket?
Simple, just go to www.pigstockthemovie.eventbrite.com and register your ticket. You’ll need to provide your name and email address. There are about 114 places, and as I write this, there are 39 places still available, so book soon to avoid disappointment.
To find out more, visit the Official Pigstock The Movie website, where John has blogged about the making of the film.
Here’s one of the old flyers, which I created for the 2005 show.
£12, and people still moaned it was too dear. Stay classy, Denbigh!
