You may have started to notice cool 3d maps of people’s rides in your mobile Strava feed. Here’s how to create 3d route maps of your own.
Here’s what it looks like in the Strava mobile app feed. The 3d route replaces the standard top-down 2d map view.
How to create 3d route maps on your Strava feed
It’s all thanks to Veloviewer, so in order to do this, you will need to visit the Veloviewer site and click the button to connect. If you’ve not been to Veloviewer before, you will need to give it permission to sign in with your Strava credentials.
First, you need to select the ride you want from the list.
Then click the 3d Profile tab.
You can then manually spin the image around until you find a view that pleases you, and then finally, click the “share to Strava” button.
You should get a pop up confirmation that it worked, and then if you reload your Strava feed, you should see the new image in place.
Veloviewer is just one of many Strava powered sites and apps. And arguably the best by a long shot. If you like to analyse your ride data at all, then you’ll be gobsmacked at the range of ways you can filter, sort and visualise your Strava data using Veloviewer.

Looks great but appears to be limited to 25 free activities, then you have to subscribe
“our free 25 activities are already synced. Upgrade to PRO to sync all 408 of your activities to enjoy the full VeloViewer experience!”
Indeed, but dig a bit deeper and I think you’ll realise that at just a tenner for a whole year, Veloviewer is incredibly good value, and worth supporting.
