The North Wales coastal path is open once more to cyclists, just days after being covered by tons of rocks and sand in the worst flooding for many years.
Just a few days ago, North Wales was battered by the highest tides in 60 years. The cycle path was ruined and many thought it would take months to clean up.
I posted some video of my initial discovery of the scene, and a couple of days later, a photo gallery of the worst affected area near Llanddulas.
Optimistically, I decided to commute that way again this morning, quite prepared to have to carry the bike if necessary, but eager to see what progress had been made.
I was very pleasantly surprised! The entire path is now safe to ride again. Well done to Conwy County Borough Council for acting on this so quickly. Impressive stuff.
Three days ago, it looked like this.
Here’s my GoPro footage. You may struggle to hear my commentary as I was riding along. No offence taken if you turn the soundtrack off.
