Whilst out cycling with a friend, we ventured off on an unknown road in the general direction of home. As we came over the brow of a hill, the view of the Vale of Clwyd smacked us in the face. It was quite a cold, crisp day and the sky was mostly clear. We paused to enjoy the view and I took out my phone to take a few shots.
Many years ago I’d come across some software for stitching photos together to make seamless panoramas, and frustratingly I didn’t seem to have it anymore.
Some googling revealed a great little free app from Microsoft called Image Composite Editor
It’s only a tiny app of a few megabytes, so it’s very quick to download and to install.
Is it easy to use?
Couldn’t be easier! All I did was drag and drop my three images from their parent folder into the app window. It then magically assembled them in the right order and stitched them together more or less perfectly.
Ok, you can see imperfections in the picture, mainly caused by exposure variations caused by shooting into the sun and because it was shot on a crappy little mobile phone camera, but you get the point.
