Just days after the terrible floods, sections of cycle route 5 have been cleared, though there is still a lot to do. Kudos to Conwy Council for acting so quickly.
As it happens, my son (7) loves this stretch of beach. We’ve spent hours down there filling his bucket with pebbles and shells that caught his eye. So, what a great opportunity it was to spend some more time with him down there this Sunday afternoon, and check out the progress (if any) of the flooded section of cycle path I regularly use to get to and from work.
Two days ago I posted some video of my first impressions on discovering the ruined cycle path, and so it was interesting to investigate the area from the opposite side (that’s where the car park is). I was delighted to discover that the cleanup had already begun, with stones piled high either side of the path, reminiscent of snow banked up on the sides of roads after the snowplough has passed through.
Further back towards the caravan park though, things are still in a mess. Having said that, there were a few cyclists about, and they were managing to get through despite some sections where it’s still necessary to dismount and carry the bike.
