Calling all Strava geeks, you’re going to love the idea behind this new device, being exhibited at Interbike13. It can provide visual and audio cues to alert you to Strava segments coming up, and when you’re nearing the end.
The hardware is called Sportiiiis. and it works with their new app, Cliiiimb. (How many i’s?)
What do we think?
The Cliiiimb app hasn’t been launched just yet, but the Sportiiiis hardware is available from the 4iiii website, but you’ll all have to get in the queue behind me, because I can’t wait to try this out.

Does this sound cool to you, or do you think it’s taking things just a bit too far?

Mmmm, clever…of course, not sure about having something so bulky attached to the glasses, I don’t always wear them and I’ve lost a few pairs. The audio that gave feedback would be more suitable fixed to a helmet for Strava and for the heart rate.
They do sell an audio only version of the gizmo, which can be attached to the helmet (3:15 in the video) :-)
Only one flaw that smart phones are not as accurate as dedicated GPS devices. I have premium membership on Strava and it’s good to see developments toward emphasizing the ‘king of the mountain’ feature.
I have the 4iiiis which i adjust through the computer desktop as i am on Android rather than Iphone. So for me they have no connection to my phone at all. They listen to my Ant+ sensors (Heartrate, speed, cadence and power) and i dont find them bulky in any way when i use them. They are IMHO some cool gadgetry and the feedback is really useful to me, however i heard that the company (like many others) are primarily focused on Iphone users and the Cliiiimb functionality will probably not come to Android which is a big shame as i would love to hear of a Strava segment coming up and just hammer it to have a bash.
