My wife has wanted a bike for a while now, yet was mysteriously waiting for a magical moment of motivation to actually do something about it. That moment just arrived.
There’s a sort of nervous anxiety that goes with the commitment associated with saying you’re going to get fit again. Most people probably fail, in that they do something once or twice and then go back to the comfort zone of old habits. Yet nobody wants to fail.
Nobody wants to have to admit that they weren’t strong enough to persevere. That they are so weak minded that they gave in as soon as the going got mild.
When you make a decision to change something about yourself, that’s pure gold. You’ve already won half the battle.
Catherine has said she wants to use Strava from the start of her new cycling adventure, so that she can get a better sense of the progress she’s making.
We pick the bike up on Friday and I must give a quick shout out to Edge Cycleworks in Chester, for their amazing patience and support in helping Catherine to choose the right bike for her. She can’t wait to pick it up.
This is what she went for – the 2013 version of the Trek Lexa. She’s not keen on the flowery design, but it was the one that seemed to be the best fit, and it was discounted to £385. An ideal first road bike.
This was the last one at that particular shop but I notice that Evans are also selling off old stock of the same bike, for the same price, £385.
I’m delighted to share that Catherine has agreed to blog a bit about her experiences as she gets into cycling, so I’ll try to hold her to that!
