A lovely surprise after cycling home 19 miles from work in the rain today. The new Cycling Plus magazine has arrived!
Interesting to note that there’s an article comparing GPS units. The old faithful Garmin Edge 800 is included, and scores highly, but is perhaps controversially beaten (probably only in terms of value for money, because it’s cheaper) by another relative newcomer, the Bryton 50T.
However, they don’t seem to mention whether or not the units can accept free OSM maps . We know the Garmin can. But can the Bryton?
I’ve heard that an older version was able to, but then Bryton signed a deal with Navteq which means that all maps must be bought through them. This is a serious downer for Bryton users, and if it’s true, should have been mentioned in the review.
