Pavlok is a wearable device that you can use to help cut bad habits or create new desirable habits.
But you can also link it to Strava, via IFTTT, which means you can take Strava to a new competitive level with your friends.
Pavlok and Strava
This is insane.
You know that “uh-oh” email you get when you lose a KOM? That can be pretty motivating in terms of making you want to get out there and smash that segment to reclaim your KOM. It is YOURS after all, right?
Now you can ZAP your friends when you beat their segment times. And they can ZAP you when they beat yours.

Yes, when I say ZAP, I mean little electric shocks.
Imagine it. You and your friends have some healthy competition over some local segments, but you hold the best time. You can set Pavlok up so that if anyone beats that time, it will zap you!
How to connect Strava to Pavlok
The integration is handled via IFTTT. Just activate this recipe.
There are many other recipes on IFTTT for Pavlok, and for Strava too (and tons of other web channels).
Another piece of useless kit! Anyone with half a brain will know that you will get notified about any KOM’s lost. Why would spend good hard earned money on some third party that wants to give you an electric shock as well. You’d have to be a complete masochist or brain dead, ffs.
Haha. A couple of things to understand here – this hasn’t been developed for this purpose. It has other aims, but coincidentally someone found a way (via ifttt) to do something amusing with it linked to Strava. The other thing is that it works on your personal segment times, regardless of whether you have the KOM.
Negative reinforcement is not the best stimulant. Forming a habit is a matter of 21 days. If you need a negative reinforcer to keep you on track for that short a time, you are likely beyond help. As the previous poster said, you’d have to be a masocist to spend good money on something like that.
